The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) recently issued a risk warning, stating that some of Hankook's tires have potential safety hazards and remind users of the risks. The reporter learned from an interview on June 11, 2011 that Hankook has announced the recall of a problematic product, involving a total of 246 truck and passenger car tires. The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) recently organized relevant experts to investigate the defects of tires manufactured by Jiangsu Hantai Tire Co. The results of expert judgement indicate that some batches of Hankook Tire's tyres were exposed due to design or manufacturing process problems, which led to the explosion of the inner cord of the tire's carcass, which resulted in a puncture accident and severely affected the driving safety. The AQSIQ notified that the Hankook tires with specifications of 11R22.5 AH18, produced in the 50th week of 2010, are used for medium-distance large and medium-sized passenger vehicles and have potential safety hazards. The AQSIQ reminds users who use the above-mentioned tires to go to Hankook Tire Co., Ltd. to check the condition of the tires as soon as possible. If abnormal conditions such as tire bulges, inner cords of the carcass, or air leaks are found, they should be immediately stopped; A puncture has occurred or various types of failures have occurred. Users and related units can log on to the website () or call the hotline (010-59799616, 65537365) to report to the AQSIQ Defective Product Management Center. After the AQSIQ’s risk warnings were issued, Hankook issued a statement on its official website stating that the products mentioned in the warning notices would be recycled and discarded, and the number was 246.
